ABSTRAK

This study aims to determine the effect of performance evaluation and employee behavior towards promotion of employees in BPS West Sumatra Province. This study used a sample of 82 respondents and collecting data using interviews, questionnaires and literature study and tested with data analysis terkomputerasisasi. Sampling using stratified random sampling method is sampling with regard strata (levels) in the population. Discussion of the results using multiple linear regression analysis to determine the effect the performance and behavior of partially and simultaneously work towards promotion in BPS West Sumatra Province. Tests performed by t test, F test and multiple linear regression coefficient of determination. The results showed that the assessment of the performance and behavior of employee influence on promotion in BPS West SumatraProvince. Equation Y = 6,757 - 0,044X1 + 0,043X2 + e. In the t test for independent variables employee performance result of 14.4%. For the independent variable work habits result obtained 3.1%. In the test can be seen Fhitung F> F table (2.798> 2, 393) with a significance level of 0.067 or <0.1 consequently rejected H0 and H1 accepted that employee performance and behavior of employees working together significant effect on promotion. The coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) of 0.043 means that 4.3% promotions are influenced by employee performance and employee behavior, while 95.7% is influenced by other variables such as motivation, discipline, leadership and other variables. Promotion should be done by looking at the performance of employees and employee behavior, not only from the psychological aspects such as proximity to employers, educational aspects and aspects of employee groups only.
